The Hill Country, a place near Comfort, Texas. It is where our temporary home will reside for the summer until we find our permanent nest. A little spot with plenty of local vineyards, great Texas bands, and lots of river to lounge in. We can’t wait to jump in.

art deco bridesmaids gifts laura catherine Art deco

i love to give gifts, but my favorite are the handmade kind… like these art deco bridesmaids gifts. i found antique shoe clips and paired them with brass chain to make a fitting bracelet for my girls. simple and yet still a statement piece. handmade gifts are the best kind in my opinion. anyone can go to the store and buy an item, but it takes time, patience, and love to make a handmade gift. plus, i just love adding the hand lettered tag with 30s ribbon to- gives it a little oomph! it’s the perfect piece for any bride or bridesmaid with Gatsby-esque dreams.

rosewater toner

summer skin protection rosewater rosewater toner

Rosewater has some amazing protective and healing properties. You may use it on your face or in your hair. Today, many skincare experts believe rosewater to be very gentle and have many skin enhancing effects. It’s perfect as an anti-inflammatory and soothes irritated skin. Or, if you suffer from dry skin, rosewater serves as a great moisturizer. Rosewater also serves as a Vitamin C booster, an antioxidant that can help skin damage.

Rosewater tutorial diy rosewater toner

To make your own rosewater //

fresh roses (no brown petals and should be fully bloomed)
water
heat safe glass bowl to fit within the pot
large pan/pot with lid
ice cubes
brick or stone to place within pot so bowl has enough height
small glass bottles for rosewater

Directions //
1. Pour about 4 inches of water in a large pot and put in freshly washed rose petals.
2. Turn the heat on the hob to medium to high and place the empty bowl inside the pot on top or brick or rock.
3. Then turn the lid of the pot upside down and place on the pot.
4. Fill the lid with ice cubes and leave it to simmer, the steam will rise up and when it hits the cold lid the condensation will drip into the bowl. 5. When the ice has melted remove the lid carefully and empty in to the sink and fill it with ice again.Continue this each time its melted after 2 hours the bowl should have enough rose distilled water to fill a bottle. You can add in a little witch hazel if you like as well! And there you go! Fresh rosewater!

To add a bit of pop to your bottles, create some calligraphy labels like I did. Then, place the rosewater among your jars and pots of perfume. So lovely.
